It definitely feels like we have turned a corner. Our new leaders are re-introducing words like peace, love, and unity into our vocabulary. On Inauguration Day, I felt myself breathe a sigh of relief. I felt a loosening of the space both around and within me. It was as though I had been holding my breath for years, without even knowing it, and now I could breathe again.
The move forward will not be easy. Change doesn’t happen in a weekend. But we could each be part of the shift if, as Uncle Joe puts it, “…enough of us came together to carry all of us forward.”
What that first requires is that we each make The Shift within, to be both physically grounded and spiritually present. A simple place to start is with something that we do over 15,000 times a day: breathe.
Universal Wisdom: …You can help yourself be more present, to yourself and others, by paying attention to the energy of your being.
Take just a minute now to scan your body, and see where you are holding your energy. If you are feeling stressed in some way, then your energy is probably concentrated in your upper body and your head. This kind of arrangement places you off-balance. Literally. Your upper body is heavier than your lower body, and your muscles need to tighten to keep your energy-self from tipping over. Bringing your energy lower in your body, into your pelvis or belly, creates more stability and freedom of movement.
I invite you to join me in a breathing exercise. This is a little energy practice that you can do anywhere, any time, for any amount of time:
Try to breathe, not just with your lungs, but with your energy. When you breathe in, let your energy move into all the space inside your body. When you breathe out, let your energy move into all of the space around your body. Focus on your torso, the trunk of your body that includes your heart and your belly.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Feel the energy Inside your body, feel the energy Outside your body.
Concentrate it, Expand it.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Experience density, experience freedom.
Bring it in, let it out.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Every time you practice this, you will be creating an energy memory of what it feels like to be both physically grounded and spiritually present. The more you practice, the easier it gets. The more aware you become, the more likely you will be to function this way in everyday life, to live on the planet within a state of transcendent ease. That is the manifestation of The Shift. This is Our New Spirituality.
