I was given a vision where I was holding a bundle of roots in my hand. The tops of the plants had been cut off evenly, exposing the stems in a cross-section encircled by my hand. It was like looking into the cross section of a fiber-optic cable. This vision was teaching me about our concurrent states of existence.

A fiber-optic cable is made of long strands of specialized “wire” (actually glass or plastic) encased in a sheath. Using light pulses, information flows through it over incredibly long distances at very high speeds. That energy and information are produced by many sources, both near the cable and very far removed from it. The cable itself does nothing without information flowing through it and something to receive that information on the other end.

This is a fair parallel to living beings. A Being appears as a physical manifestation, a body, somewhat like the fiber-optic cable. It is created from the materials of the Universe using a specific DNA blueprint. In the case of living things, the blueprint determines whether the body will be a plant or an animal. It also determines whether the plant will be a birch or a bluebell, the animal a rabbit or a human. It even creates a specific human––you or me. This is the ego, our physical representation, our form.

Both the blueprint and its manifestation are created by the flow of Life Force through it. A birch or a bluebell or a rabbit wouldn’t exist without this flow. Neither would you or I. Life Force is the energy of the Universe, what is called Spirit. We are each the journey––the movement, of Spirit––Life Force––walking the Earth.

The body/Ego/form is specific. Life Force/Spirit/essence is general. Then there is Soul. Soul is who we are without our bodies. It’s where we come from and what we will go back to when our time here is over. Whether it is a plant or a human, Soul returns to the Everything, to all possibilities without limits. Soul is also the place we go when we’re in a state of sleep or vision––we can travel there free of our form.

Like the fiber-optic cable we are simultaneously a form, and a flow of energy, and a connection to source. It is important to maintain our form so that Life Force can flow freely through us, and important to be open to receive the unlimited information available to us on our journey.
