I am at a place in my life where I feel compelled to take a personal inventory of my existence. This seems to be a result of multiple factors–– an upcoming milestone birthday, a recent family trip, current reading material. Regardless, this is a worthwhile activity at any time. It helps me to step forward with less baggage. While I was looking at some of my own behavior patterns I made the connection to generational behavior patterns.

The person I am today was created by genetics, epigenetics, parenting, and culture. The other humans who influenced me, consciously or unconsciously, were influenced themselves by such factors. There is a serial nature to the transmission of these influences. I think of it like carrying a burning torch, a light. We can’t decide if we are going to carry this torch––it’s embedded in our makeup. But we all have the opportunity, during our entire life, to decide how we are going to carry that torch into future generations.

I was specifically looking at the amount of time I have spent either in unhealthy couple-relationships or being single, and the following teaching arose.

A’riquea:  This is a repeating theme in your life, and there is a reason for that. Every time this issue, this energy configuration, comes around you have the opportunity to look at it from a new viewpoint. As we have said before, there are very few truly healthy arrangements in marital partnerships. Marriage is its own opportunity for growth, through the mirroring and surfacing of family ‘torches,’ as you have just called them. A better way to think of that might be a family map, or a family code. Whatever you call it, its energy will always be present. It is present in each individual, who is a member of a family of origin, and in the family that any new arrangements create. There are layers. These layers are constantly interacting, constantly creating new energy dynamics. This is the work of evolution.

It is up to the participants to be aware of the energy being created. Life on the Earth plane is clouded by the density of matter, and no one can escape making mistakes. This is a fact of life. How we  deal with those mistakes is what opens us up or shuts us down. Of course this process is not static, it is moving all during your lifetime. And through all of your lifetimes. It is not helpful to think that you can do your work and be done. Ever. The work is never done, but doing the work will lead to greater and greater freedom, greater connection with the All That Is, greater happiness, True Joy. So you can see that it is worthwhile to take on this work.

What is the work? Truly opening to and accounting for your own mistakes. Not in a harsh and punishing way, but in an honest and loving way. Imagine that you are anyone who has ever made any mistake, and give yourself the embrace of forgiveness, the chance to move on without judgement, the inspiration to explore and learn more in your spiritual development.

Without doing this work, you will be stuck at the level of your obstacles and denials. You may think that it is more comfortable to avoid painful realizations, but that is not compatible with a happy life. And, make no mistake there, the Creator wants you to have a happy life. When you are embodying Love and Joy, you are moving the energy of the Universe, you are fulfilling your contract. Misery and gloom are not in the best interests of Life Force. Look at your mistakes with a happy heart, see them as an opportunity to move toward Joy. Celebrate your strengths and the things you did well, the people you helped along the way, the connections of Light you created. Love One Another. Love Yourself.

Love yourself. That has been a hard task for me in this life. So many things on the Earth plane have taught me that I am not worthy.

But there you have taken on the heavy vibration of other people’s Forms. That is not you. See yourself in the glory which God made you—a messy, fallible, beautiful human. A spirit walking the Earth. Let go of Form. See in yourself the same essence as the trees and the birds and the sky. Come Home to God.
