Oh. My. Goodness. Yesterday, with the help of my book designer, I submitted my third book to the printer––I’m enormously excited!
I’ve been working on this book for almost 4 years now. It’s quite a process: receiving transmissions, sorting and collating the transmissions, weaving them into linear chapters, editing and rewriting, re-editing, re-editing, getting barcodes and ISBN numbers, designing a cover, laying out the interior, re-editing, re-editing, re-editing, submitting.
The process is kind of like a pregnancy. There is a long gestation from conception to full term. As it progresses, it needs more and more of my time and energy. Yesterday, with the printer submission, labor has started! Someone asked if this kind of labor was hard and the answer is No––because this isn’t my first baby. I’ve been through the process several times already. I’ve learned a lot along the way that I am applying now. The main skill at this point is patience. In a week or two my book will be born!
Then there will be welcoming celebrations, a book launch August 26, and many years of supporting the book as it takes on a life of its own. Yay!!
